Psychotherapy

Dr. Bahador has over 25 years of experience conducting individual psychotherapy with children, adolescents and adults. She is currently accepting psychotherapy referrals for adolescents and adults.  Dr. Bahador has formal training and professional experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She also has extensive training and experience in the treatment of anxiety disorders, in addition to stress management and crisis management training. She conducted stress management workshops at UCLA for many years.

 

Dr. Bahador also provides therapy for parents who are struggling with understanding and optimally addressing their child or adolescent's difficulties. Dr. Bahador's expertise in assessments enables her to identify the issues underlying a child's difficulties in order to make helpful recommendations to parents regarding assessment, treatment and/or educational planning. 

 

The type of treatment chosen for each patient is a collaborative decision based on the presenting problems, psychological history and comfort level.  Dr. Bahador understands that each patient has unique needs and is treated accordingly. She believes it is the psychologist’s responsibility to facilitate positive change in each psychotherapy session.  Dr. Bahador’s approach to psychotherapy is active and problem oriented. She guides patients to obtain relief from their difficulties and achieve greater life satisfaction and enjoy higher levels of functioning in many important life areas (i.e., relationships, work/professional, achievement of goals). 

Dr. Bahador specializes in the psychotherapeutic treatment of:

  • Anxiety (i.e., OCD, GAD, Panic, Test Anxiety)

  • Stress Management

  • Depression and mood disorder

  • Life Dissatisfaction

Privacy

Dr. Bahador offers a therapeutic environment to explore her patient’s presenting difficulties and address their clinical needs. She ensures the privacy and confidentiality of her patients, as they are essential for effective psychotherapy. Dr. Bahador believes it is part of her job to help her patients feel comfortable and safe to share any and all personal issues.
